The operation, or drying principle, of a contact dryer is very simple. The heat created causes water evaporation over a wall surface. This is also called a heat transfer surface. The higher the solid content, the less water needs to be evaporated. This naturally affects energy costs. However, heat loss is generally very low, and required air volumes are often very small. It can even be performed without oxygen. All of this makes a contact dryer generally economically very friendly and a conscious consideration. After all, a convection dryer, such as a spray dryer or fluid bed dryer, is less cost-efficient.
Why would you buy a used contact dryer? There are several reasons, and some of them may be decisive for you.
A slightly used contact dryer is more cost-effective.
A second-hand contact dryer is readily available.
Foeth's contact dryers are mechanically tested before shipping.
The latter point is often a decisive reason because you want to be sure that your investment is ready to be implemented in your production process. Therefore, it is not convenient when a newly purchased product is not mechanically sound. Foeth understands that this can be frustrating and offers as a free service that all process machines purchased from us are mechanically inspected by our professionals in the Foeth workshop.
